Catherine Stepan

cathy.pngmap_us.gifCathy (whose ancestors still wrote the name as ‘Štěpán’) is from New York, and gained both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English and secondary education at Queens College, City University of New York. Her TEFL certificate was gained in 2004 in Brno. She is currently studying for a doctorate in comparative literature at Masaryk University in Brno.

Cathy taught English and ESL for 10 years in the New York Public School System, and a further two years at Laguardia Community College. During this time she gained a great deal of experience in teaching students of a wide range of ages and backgrounds. She has written and had published a children’s story complete with audio CD and teacher’s activity guide CD. Since she is fluent in Czech she also translates.

Cathy enjoys writing, travel, a variety of cultural activities such as visiting museums and the theatre, cooking and trying out new restaurants. She is one of the few people who can say that they have kayaked to work in New York.
